授業の概要 / Course overview

本授業では、学生が国際的に活躍できるようになるため、設定したテーマに関して学生同士が国際的に共創して事業提案を行います。

授業を通して、これからの時代の潮流の理解、学生が解決したい課題の発見、課題の解決策の検討、ビジネスモデルの構築、事業の提案を行えるよう、テーマ、イノベーション、ビジネスモデルに関する知識、国際機関に従事するグローバルリーダー、スタートアップ、イノベーションアクセラレーター、ベンチャーキャピタルの方との対話型セッション（インプットに基づく対話型でのセッション）などの多様な学習機会を提供します。

シンガポールやオーストラリアなど海外の学生も含めた形で実施する予定で、基本的に英語で授業が行われますが、事業を立案するためのグループについては同じ国の人同士で形成することも可能なので、議論自体は日本語でも可能な環境を用意する予定です。 学生はこれらの活動を通して、これからの時代に必要不可欠となる、仲間と共創する力、イノベーションを創造する力、国際的な仲間と関係性を創り出す力などを培うと同時に、これからの時代の潮流、日本と他国の社会・経済・環境の現状・未来、そして、国際的な共創活動を通じた自分の新たな可能性への理解を深めることができます。学生の間は特にいっぱい挑戦していっぱい失敗できる時期なので、是非本授業を国際的に活動する練習の場として利用してもらえればと思います。

In this course, to be able to play an active role internationally, students will make business proposals co-creatively and internationally with each other on a set theme, which is described below.

Through this course, students will be able to understand the current trends of the future, discover issues they want to solve, consider solutions to those, build business models, and propose business plans. We will provide various learning opportunities such as lectures about the theme, innovation, and business models and interactive sessions with innovation accelerators and venture capitalists.

The course will include students from multiple countries and basically be held in English. However, because it is possible to form groups for business planning with people from the same country, we plan to provide an environment where the discussions in the group can be held in mother languages.

Through these activities, students will be able to cultivate the ability to co-create with peers, create innovation, and create relationships with international students, which will be essential in the future. At the same time, students can deepen their understanding of the trends of the future, the current and future of society, economy, and environment in Japan and other countries, and your own possibilities through international co-creation activities. We hope that students will take this course as a place to practice their international activities, especially because it is a time when you can take on many challenges and make many mistakes as a student.

Innovation for Well-being
– GDPを超える世界を創り出す挑戦 –

本授業テーマは「Innovation for Well-being -GDPを超える世界を創り出す挑戦-」です。

これまでは経済成長に重きが置かれる時代でした。人類は資本主義を発明し、資本主義の象徴でもある経済合理性・経済指標（GDPや売上・利益など）を追求し、経済を成長させ、人々の生活を豊かにしてきました。ただその結果として、短期的に儲からないこと、規模が取れないこと、効率がよくないことはしない傾向がありました。そのため、貧困と飢餓、地球環境の悪化、拡大し続ける格差など、経済成長のみにフォーカスをしていては解決できない本質的な課題が、我々の目の前に押し寄せてきています。

そうした背景において、世界では「Well-Being」への注目と期待が高まっています。一人ひとりが身体的にも、精神的にも、社会的にも、健康であり、良好であり、幸せであり、人間らしくあり、豊かであるという「Well-Being」を誰一人取り残さず全員が享受できることが重要です。また、「Well-Being」は従来型の資本主義を進化させるための重要な軸であり、Beyond GDPの世界を構築する軸（国家の転換軸）としての可能性にまで言及されるようになってきています。これからの時代の中核的な概念であることは間違いありません。

本授業では、まさに今の世界の大きな潮流、そして、そこに内在する本質的な論点を対象とした授業としてデザインしています。「GDPを超える世界」というのは象徴的な表現です。本質的には、これまでの時代の従来型の資本主義の考え方のみにとらわれず、これまでの時代 / これからの時代に対する世界の考え方を理解し、これからの時代の未来を創り出す世界中のリーダー達とのイノベーションの共創機会を提供するものです。「Innovation for Well-being」とは、これからの時代の一人一人にとって本質的に意義を追求するイノベーションであり、国家・地域・企業などの多様なステークホルダー、世界中のリーダー達が注目し、国際連携・国際共創の軸になるイノベーションであり、学生の時から学ぶ価値のある、挑戦する意義のあるテーマです。

これまではどのような時代だったのか、これからはどのような時代になるのか、これからの時代の一人一人の目的とは何なのか、それを支える国家・企業・地域、そして、社会・経済・環境はどうあるべきなのか、これからの時代のイノベーションとは何なのか、そういったことを仲間と共に学び、対話しながら、課題解決・未来創造を実践していきます。

Innovation for Well-being
– The Challenge of Creating a World Beyond GDP –

The theme of this course is “Innovation for Well-being: The Challenge of Creating a World Beyond GDP”.

Until now, economic growth has been the focus of much attention. Humans invented capitalism and have pursued economic rationality and economic indicators such as GDP, sales, profits, which are symbols of capitalism, to grow the economy and enrich people’s lives. However, as a result, we have tended not to do things that are not profitable, scaleable, or efficient in the short term. Therefore, we are now confronted with essential issues that cannot be solved by focusing only on economic growth, such as poverty and hunger, deteriorating global environment, and the ever-growing disparity.

Against this backdrop, the world is paying increasing attention and expectation to “well-being”. It is important for everyone to be well-being, that is, to be physically, mentally, and socially healthy, well, and happy without leaving anyone behind. In addition, well-being is an important axis for the evolution of conventional capitalism, and it is even being mentioned as a possible axis for building a world of Beyond GDP (the axis of national transformation). There is no doubt that it is a core concept for the coming era.

This course is designed to focus on the major trends in the world today and the essential issues inherent in them. The “world beyond GDP” is a symbolic expression. Essentially, through this course, we will provide an opportunity to understand the world’s way of thinking about the past and the future, and to co-creating innovation with leaders from around the world who will create the future, without being limited to the conventional capitalist way of thinking of the past. “Innovation for Well-being” is an innovation that pursues the essential meaning for each and every person in the coming era, an innovation that attracts the attention of various stakeholders such as nations, regions, and companies, as well as leaders from around the world, and an innovation that will become the axis of international collaboration and co-creation and this theme is worth learning about and challenging from the time you are a student.

We will practice problem-solving and future creation by learning and discussing with peers what the past was like, what the future will be like, what the purpose of each individual is in the future, what the nation, companies, and regions, as well as the society, economy, and environment that support them should be like, and what the innovation of the future will be.

　第1回では、本授業の概要説明、連携国や機関の紹介などガイダンスを行った上で、対話型セッションを通して授業テーマである「Innovation for Well-being -GDPを超える世界を創り出す-」について学びます。対話型セッションでは国連開発計画 Global Centre for Technology, Innovation and Sustainable Development （UNDP GCTISD）の方から世界の動向も含めて情報提供をしていただき、他国の学生と共に気づきや学びを深めるためのグループワークを実施します。
　第2回では、これからの時代のイノベーションについて理解を深めます。これからの時代はどうなるのか？　イノベーションとは何か？　なぜイノベーションなのか？　ビジネスモデルとはなにか？　など、イノベーションに関連する情報を提供して、イノベーションの理解を深めるためのグループワークを行います。
　第3回では、今回の授業テーマである「Innovation for Well-being -GDPを超える世界を創り出す挑戦-」の理解を深めるためのディープリサーチを行います。Well-beingに関係して包括的な視点（社会・経済・環境の視点など）でのこれからの時代の基軸となりうる考え方、多様な形態のイノベーション（国家主導のトップダウン型イノベーション、スタートアップ主導のボトムアップ型イノベーションなど）に関してデジタルをフル活用して情報収集してもらい、全体共有した後、Well-beingに関連する事業やスタートアップを調べてもらう予定です。教員からも適宜情報共有します。
　第4回では、これまでに調べたこと、学んできたことを参考に、学生それぞれがチャレンジしたいより具体的なテーマを探っていきます。その際、チャレンジテーマを見つける方法論を提示し、それに関連したワークを行うことで課題を見つけてもらいやすくする予定です。
　第5回では、チャレンジテーマを事業に落とし込むときに重要なビジネスモデルについて理解を深めます。イノベーションネーション（イノベーション国家）であるシンガポールにて共創型イノベーション活動をしているアクセラレータとの対話セッションに基づき、他国の学生とアイデアを洗練させながらビジネスモデルを創るグループワークを実施します。
　第6回では、これからの時代のイノベーションおいて重要なリーダーシップについて理解を深めます。リーダーシップに関わる概論を説明した後、リーダーシップに関するグループワークを行います。
　第7回では、学生のチャレンジテーマをベースに、最終発表にて事業提案を行うチームを編成します。この際、同じ国・異なる国の人同士の方が良いなど希望をふまえてチーム分けする予定です。
　第8、9回では、スタートアップに携わっている方との対話型セッションを実施し、最終発表で事業提案する際の参考にしてもらう予定です。また、実際に講演者に学生のアイデアを見てもらってフィードバックをもらう機会も提供する予定です。
　第10回では、学生同士でそれぞれの事業提案の相互評価（ピアレビュー）を行います。その際には、どこを重視して提案を作ればよいかなどの評価指標も合わせて共有する予定です。
　第11回では、事業を推進するアクセラレータ・ベンチャーキャピタルとの対話型セッションを実施し、事業提案に関する理解を深めてもらいます。その際、実際に講演者に学生のアイデアを見てもらってフィードバックをもらう機会も提供する予定です。
　第12回では、これまでに学んだことをふまえて、提案する事業のブラッシュアップを行います。また、リーダーシップについても再考するワークを行い、自己理解を深めた上で最終発表に臨んでもらいます。
　第13回では、最終発表として事業提案を行ってもらいます。その際、起業家、アクセラレータ・ベンチャーキャピタルの方などを審査員として各事業を評価してもらう予定です。

In the first class, after an overview of the course and guidance on the partner countries and organizations, students will learn about the class theme, “Innovation for Well-being – Creating a World Beyond GDP,” through interactive sessions. In the interactive session, a person from the United Nations Development Programme Global Centre for Technology, Innovation and Sustainable Development (UNDP GCTISD) will provide information on global trends, and group work will be conducted to deepen awareness and learning with students from other countries.
　In the second class, students will deepen their understanding of innovation in the coming era. What will the future look like?　What is innovation?　Why innovation?　What is a business model?　and other information related to innovation will be provided, and group work will be conducted to deepen the understanding of innovation.
　In the third class, students will conduct deep research to deepen their understanding of the theme of this course, “Innovation for Well-being: The Challenge of Creating a World Beyond GDP”. The students will be asked to make full use of digital technology to gather information on various forms of innovation (top-down innovation led by the state, bottom-up innovation led by startups, etc.) and share it with the whole class, and then investigate businesses and startups related to well-being. After sharing with the whole group, we plan to have the students research businesses and startups related to well-being. Faculty members will also share information as appropriate.
　In the fourth class, students will explore a more specific theme that they would like to challenge, referring to what they have researched and learned so far. At that time, we will present a methodology for finding challenge themes and do related work to make it easier for students to find challenges.
　In the fifth class, students will deepen their understanding of business models, which are important when incorporating challenge themes into business. Based on a dialogue session with an accelerator engaged in co-creation innovation activities in Singapore, an innovation nation, group work will be conducted to create a business model while refining ideas with students from other countries.
　In the sixth class, students will deepen their understanding of leadership, which is important for innovation in the future. After an overview of leadership, group work on leadership will be conducted.
　In the seventh class, we will organize the teams for the final presentation based on the students’ challenge theme, and we will divide the teams based on their preferences, such as whether they would prefer to be from the same country or different countries.
　In the eighth and ninth classes, we will have interactive sessions with people who are involved in startups to help students make their business proposals for the final presentation. We also plan to provide an opportunity for the speakers to actually see the students’ ideas and give them feedback.
　In the 10th class, students will evaluate each other’s business proposals (peer review), and will also share their evaluation indicators, such as what they should focus on in their proposals.
　In the 11th class, interactive sessions with the accelerators and venture capitalists promoting the projects will be held to deepen the understanding of the business proposals. At that time, we will also provide an opportunity for the speakers to actually see the students’ ideas and give them feedback.
　In the 12th class, the students will brush up their business proposals based on what they have learned so far. They will also do some work to reconsider their leadership skills and deepen their self-understanding before making their final presentations.
　In the thirteenth (final) class, the students will make a final presentation of their business proposal. At that time, we plan to have entrepreneurs, accelerators, and venture capitalists evaluate each project as judges.

授業方法 / Teaching methodology

  • 本授業は、インプット重視型ではなく、アウトプット重視型として実施します。本授業に関わる基本的なインプットは授業外にも実施してもらう予定です。インプットとしては資料のみならずリンク集（記事やYouTubeなど）をオンラインで共有します。
  • 本授業では、全体を通じた学び（テーマに対する学びのみならず、自分自身の可能性への学びを含む）を重視します。よって、受講生同志の学びも含めて、ペアワークやグループワークで学ぶ機会を多く作ります。
  • 全て Zoom を用いたリアルアイムのオンライン授業の予定です。Zoom の URL については、UTAS をご確認ください。
  • 全ての授業は録画して授業後に確認できるようにします。
  • This course will be conducted as an output-oriented one, rather than an input-oriented one. The basic input for this course will be provided outside of classes. We will share not only materials but also links (articles, YouTube, etc.) online as input.
  • In this course, we will emphasize learning throughout (not only learning about the theme, but also learning about your own potential). Therefore, we will create many opportunities for learning through pair and group work, including learning among students.
  • This course will be held fully online with Zoom and Slack.
  • All classes will be recorded so that students can check them after the class.

成績評価 / Evaluation

本授業は、最終的な成果物に加えて、授業自体への主体的・能動的な姿勢、各プロセスにおける共創活動へのリード・貢献、全体に対する存在価値（授業全体やチームへのいい影響力）などを総合して評価します。
In addition to the final product, students will be evaluated based on the following factors: proactive and active attitude toward the course itself, leading and contributing to co-creation activities in each process, and existence value to the whole (good influence on the class as a whole and the team).
